How it works

Simple workflow for turning bad neighborhood information into useful, searchable corrections.

1

Submit the claim

Paste the statement or upload a screenshot. The form asks for topic, short context, and optional sources.

2

Strip all identities

Before publishing, remove names, faces, profile links, addresses, and anything that points to a private person.

3

Publish Myth vs Fact

Post a short myth, a sourced correction, and a category tag so neighbors can learn without dogpiling anyone.

Solar NEM 3.0
Myth
“Buying solar today works the same way it did in 2018.”
Fact
NEM 2.0 and NEM 3.0 are materially different. Export compensation and system design strategy changed, especially around battery value and evening usage.

HOA Permits
Myth
“An HOA can always block rooftop solar if enough neighbors complain.”
Fact
HOAs may have design review standards, but state solar rights laws can significantly limit their ability to unreasonably restrict installations.

Battery Outages
Myth
“One battery always covers every home during an outage.”
Fact
Battery sizing depends on load, backup goals, AC usage, and whether major appliances are on protected loads. One battery may be enough for some homes, but not all.

Publishing rules

These rules are the heart of the site and help keep it focused, useful, and safer.

Allowed

Anonymous screenshots, paraphrased claims, sourced corrections, neutral summaries, category tags, and public-policy discussion.

!

Not allowed

Naming private people, posting faces or profiles, insults, doxxing, “gotcha” posts, defamatory accusations, or anything meant to humiliate.

Best practice

Use careful wording: “This claim appears inaccurate because…” is better than attacking motives or intelligence.

FAQ

Useful copy for the bottom of the page.

Does this site repost content from social platforms?

It should not republish identifiable posts from private individuals. The safer approach is to summarize the claim, remove all identifiers, and publish a fresh fact-check entry in your own words.

Can people upload screenshots?

Yes, but the screenshot should be reviewed and anonymized before going live. In production, add an image upload field and a moderation step.

How do I make the form actually send?

Connect the form to Formspree, Netlify Forms, Airtable, a lightweight CMS, or your own backend. The current file is intentionally simple and safe to edit.
